How to use sun-cream
We’ve been given mixed messages over the years, particularly from the marketing of sun-cream which I know has confused me. And just because it’s grey and raining most of the time doesn’t mean we can forget about protecting ourselves from the sun. For most of the year we’re covered up so need less protection but the peak months in Ireland are from April to September when we’re out in our shorts and t-shirts soaking up more rays.
Sunshine is really important to us too, so don’t keep yourself locked away. It’s good for us to get out regularly in fresh air and sunshine, which helps us produce vitamin D. But we do also need to be aware of the risks of skin cancer on our temperate green isle.
Check out the video below to learn the hows and whys of using sun-cream.
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Ireland. Just over 10,000 new cases were diagnosed in this country in 2013. Most cases are caused by UV rays from the sun.
Be informed & enjoy the sun
By informing ourselves we can get out and about, enjoy the great outdoors and reduce our risk of damage. Please share this information and if you feel there is anything more we should add let us know.
Now I’m off to work on my amazing farmers tan!
